Teacher guide: tracking students' progress and results – the general list, course-specific progress data (including answers to course tasks) and final exam tracking.

1 Where to track progress
Tracking happens in different places from different angles. The most important are the general progress list of students and the course-specific progress data; in addition, final exams have their own tracking.
Courses view
👥 Active students
A general list of all students' progress: tasks and quizzes done/total, status and latest activity.
Course page
📊 Progress
The students of one course one by one: tasks, quizzes and other work. You can see answers to course tasks by clicking the score. Statistics across courses are in the Analytics view.
Add tools → Manage
🏁 Performance tracking
A separate view for final exams: completed final exams with grades, by exam or by student.
2 Active students
The “Active students” list in the Courses view shows how students are progressing on their courses. You can search by name, number or course and filter by status.
Active students: name + number, course, progress bar (📝 tasks, 📋 quizzes), status and latest activity.
Search – search by name, student number or course name/code.
Filter – All / In progress / Done / No name. No name shows the students whose name is missing, with a counter; add the names one at a time with the ✏️ button – the filter and scroll position stay after saving.
Progress – a bar showing overall progress and counters for tasks (📝) and quizzes (📋). A course task graded as approved or rejected counts as done only once you have approved it.
Status – Done · In progress · Not started.
Last active – when the student last did something on the course.
The list loads students page by page – long lists have “Load more...”. If a student's name is missing, you can add it with the ✏️ button on the row.
3 Student quick view
Clicking a student's name in the Active students list opens a quick view showing that student's progress broken down: tasks, quizzes, hybrid quizzes, essays, video tasks, peer reviews, mind maps and required Alaia tasks, each as done/total (only those the course has). An Alaia task counts as done once the student has sent at least one attempt – the same rule as in the student's own progress. Work graded as approved or rejected counts as done only once you have approved it. The Show exams button shows the student's exams with grades, and 📋 Event log shows their events on the course.
A more detailed task-by-task breakdown with answers is in the course's Progress view (section 4).
4 Course progress and Analytics
The student-by-student data for a single course is on the course's own page, behind the “Progress” button. It opens the Course progress window, where you choose a student and see their results – including answers to course tasks.
The action buttons on the course page. “Progress” opens the course progress window.
The Course progress window
Students (left) – a filter field for name or student number and the options All, Completed and In progress. Each student has a card with a summary (tasks submitted – plus approved x/y for tasks graded as approved or rejected –, quizzes passed, essays and video tasks, start and update time). A completed student's card says All tasks and quizzes completed. Next to the card are 📋 event log and 🗑 removing the student from the course progress data (asks for confirmation).
The selected student (right) – start and update time, the Event log button, the Tasks table (status, score or result, completed) and Exams, i.e. the topic quizzes with their attempts (started, finished, score, percentage, passed). If the course has Alaia tasks, there is also an ✨ Alaia tasks section: for each task whether it is required and its topic, the status (Done / Not done), the best result, the number of attempts and the time of the latest attempt. The student's card summary shows x/y Alaia tasks done (required ones). Item-level results and hints are on the Results tab of the Alaia tasks section.
Clicking a score on a task row opens the Task feedback window: the score, the student's answer and the AI or teacher feedback.
Tasks graded as approved or rejected
A course task whose grading is Approved / rejected shows a status instead of points in the Tasks table: ✓ Approved, ↩ Needs revision or ✕ Rejected. A submitted task you have not graded yet shows Awaiting grading. The column header is then Score / result, and clicking the status shows the student's answer and your feedback.
Point totals – these tasks add no points and no maximum points (not in the Analytics averages either). Instead the summary shows approved x/y, e.g. “6/6 tasks submitted · approved 1/2”.
Completion – the task is complete only once you have approved it. A task that needs revision or was rejected keeps the student In progress, even if every task has been submitted.
Essays, mind maps, video tasks and peer reviews also show the status (Approved / Needs revision / Rejected); points appear only for work graded with points.
Course progress: the student list with filters and the selected student's tasks and exams. After clicking a score: the Task feedback window with the score, the student's answer and the AI feedback.
Analytics: course statistics
The overall picture and comparison of courses is in the Analytics view (Add tools → Manage → Analytics, Course statistics). Choose one or more courses at the top (or Select all / Clear) and narrow down by status (All states), score (All scores) or name if needed. Export CSV saves the data for a spreadsheet.
Analytics with MAA6 selected, the Overview tab: key figures (students, completed, avg time, avg score %, quiz pass %), completion status and cumulative progress.
Overview – key figures and trend curves.
Tasks – task statistics: avg %, pass rate, avg time, AI hints and difficulty.
Students – a row per student (avg %, tasks, quizzes, status) that opens into a breakdown with the ▼ button.
The Students tab with one student opened: tasks (%, points, max, time), quizzes with attempts and essays. On path courses it also shows the development of the skill level (TT).
The Course progress window focuses on one course and student (including answers), while Analytics gives the overall picture: which tasks cause difficulties and how the courses progress.
“Performance tracking” (Add tools → Manage, Final exams & grades) is a separate view that only covers final exams (an exam linked to a course). It collects completed final exams with their grades, grouped by exam or by student.
Final exam tracking: date filter and grouping, summary figures, grade distribution and an opened exam and attempt with points per task.
Filters – Start date, End date and Group by (By exam / By student). Apply updates the list, Reset removes the date range. The app remembers your choices next time.
Summary figures – Submissions, Students, Exams, Avg. grade, Median, Avg. points, Avg. time. The coloured bar below them is the grade distribution.
Groups – each exam (or student) is its own expandable group; its header shows the number of attempts and students, the grade average (avg) and median, and a small grade distribution.
Attempt row – student (or exam), date, points, time used and grade. Click the row to open the points per task.
Export CSV – saves the attempts shown to a spreadsheet file (exam, subject, student number and name, date, points, maximum points, grade and time).
If the same student has sent the same exam for grading more than once, the list only shows the latest grading, so a duplicate row does not skew the statistics.
Deleting an attempt
At the bottom of an opened attempt row there is a Delete this attempt button. You can use it to delete, for example, a test attempt or an attempt that was sent by mistake. The app asks you to confirm: “Delete attempt?” and shows the names of the student and the exam.
The attempt and all related data – answers, points and grade – are deleted permanently.
The option Also delete monitoring logs also deletes the monitoring logs of the attempt. If you leave it unticked, the logs are kept.
Confirm with the Yes, delete button. Finally, the app tells you how many rows were deleted from the database, and the list is updated.
Deletion cannot be undone. If you want to keep the results, export them to a CSV file first.
Note – different views: this only concerns final exams. Answers to course tasks and course-specific results are in the course's Progress view (section 4), and manual grading of course tasks is in the “Course task submissions” section.
6 Names and privacy mode
Adding a name – if only a number is shown for a student, add the real name with the ✏️ button on the row. The name helps you recognise the student in all views.
Privacy mode – hides names and numbers (pseudonyms and masked numbers), so you can show the views, for example when sharing your screen, without revealing personal data.
The tracking views only show students on your own courses. The data is updated when the students' apps sync their results.
